Website Projects

Below is a list of website designs that I have built during my career. Most of these were free projects for small businesses and some were paid in free products or a meal whenever I visited. All individuals never asked for a new website but I build one anyway for them and just gave it away. The goal here was to no only show what it could do for their business but also prove to them that website design does not have to be expensive and can take less than a week to fully build out with images, graphics, seo and ads. These were all built using the WordPress platform and using Elementor as the page builder. WooCommerce is my preferred ecommerce platform and works well for any business as it has many integrations. My build time is usually within 2 weeks depending on content availability. This also includes mobile perspectives as the Elementor builder provides both visuals while editing. Visual Studio Code is only used to make edits to plugins from 1st and 3rd parties and AI coders to help with fixing bugs. I also use the program called Local for all offline versions to test new features and designs before publishing to a live environment.

User Experience

The first step I take is to layout the navigation experience. This helps me know where things need to go, what to build for and what the expectations are for the users experiencing the website. I consider this to be the site map on a basic fundamental level. The example below was from a project where the agency I worked for used Figma Jam.

Layout Design

The second step I take is to follow the flow chart and design around the navigation experience. Once this is complete, we can then design downwards based on the clients theme. This is usually the part where clients will approve the design before it’s built in a staging environment. The project below was using the program Lunacy.

Progress Tracking

The third step I take is to finally prepare for the building process and create expectations of when the project will be completed through a project management system. This is where the conversations of adding seo and marketing strategies take place. Clients and fellow team members can then track the progress and add in any issues along the way. The project below was using the program ClickUp.

Tools & Languages

I have been through the ringer with many different builders and platforms and I always seem to come back to a certain set of tools every time. These help me with a focus on time, costs and ease of use from both internal and external uses. Weekly updates are also part of the process, including security checkups and backups, seo improvements and bug fixes. I cannot tell you how many times I have cleaned up other projects backend systems to make it more efficient, modern and way more up to date. I’m also constantly trying out new things to see if it can eliminate multiple steps or provide additional cost saving measures which includes AI.

SEO & Marketing

Most of my SEO and marketing knowledge involves around the Google side of their applications and their ad platforms. I have had projects however with Bing’s search engine and other platforms related to the companies business and which apps people prefer to use. Yoast and Rank Math are my top 2 platforms for on-page SEO. My data analysis comes from Semrush, Ahrefs, Bright Data, Moz, Yext and Google Analytics mostly by telling you the what, when, where, why and how your users are buying and exploring. This also includes competitor analysis and forecasting for any future marketing efforts.
